Heart of Kent Hospice 10k Road Race

Last weekend saw over 550 runners take to the village of Boughton Monchelsea, just outside of Maidstone, for the first 10k charity road race that the Heart of Kent Hospice have organised. 20150308-HOKH10K-214 The start and finish point was the Cornwallis school with two laps of a 5k route to complete. The first finisher completed the route in just under 37 minutes!! They were so quick that I was still out on the route taking photos and didn’t get a photo of them crossing the line! Here the first three boys and girls are with their medals though: 20150308-HOKH10K-56720150308-HOKH10K-841 It was a beautiful day, you can see the sun was shining. As I don’t run myself I couldn’t say what the conditions were really like for the runners. There were an equal number of runners crossing the line with big smiles to match the number coming across that looked like they had made a huge effort. 20150308-HOKH10K-687 20150308-HOKH10K-70320150308-HOKH10K-713 20150308-HOKH10K-881
I’m sorry to disappoint you there and not show photos of people exhibiting their faces of pain and suffering, looking hot and dishevelled. The event attracted all sorts of people and several of the local running clubs as well. Here’s some group photos to see if I can get my blog site hit rate up a bit 🙂 First up, one of the event sponsors, Westerhill Homes20150308-HOKH10K-097 . . . and another sponsor, Sweatshop and their running club:20150308-HOKH10K-990 Medway Runners20150308-HOKH10K-092 And the largest group were Beginners to Runners:20150308-HOKH10K-994 I took nearly a thousand photos in a couple of hours. That’s more than I often shoot at a whole days wedding! Some of the people of Bougton Monchelsea turned out to watch the runners pass by their houses. The whole atmosphere was very jovial and welcoming. 20150308-HOKH10K-540 I’ve uploaded all the photos to the Shooterz website where they can be downloaded free for personal use. If you like the photos then I know the hospice would love a donation. You can text ‘RACE 16 £3’ to 70070 to show your appreciation. The event was a huge success and I hope they raised a bucket load of cash!
