I shot photos for the HOKH Moonlit walk back in September. It was a lovely evening, not too cold and the earlier rain held off for the actual event.
The walk started from the Hospice itself and everyone was warmed up with a bit of a Zumba workout before they set off. The route was an eight mile circular walk around the western outlying villages of Maidstone.
Lots of walkers had bought the flashing bunny ears that were available. It was quite a sight to see over two hundred walkers, walking down the roads, many of them wearing these flashing bunny ears. They drew quite a lot of attention from the passing cars.
There were a couple of refreshment stops along the route. The favourite stop, with tea and cake, was probably at the Heart of Kent Hospice shop in East Malling.
When I heard that the event was setting off from the Hospice, my first thought was “where are we all going to park?”. A genius bit of planning from the Hospice organisers though and they had arranged that participants could park in the local Sainsbury’s car park. Thanks to Sainsbury’s!
The Moonlit Walk has run for a number of years and looks like it’s going to be run for a few more yet based on this years turnout.
