This week was the Scouts Kent International Jamboree. It was held at the Detling Kent County Showground. There were 6,000 participants and 500 staff representing 30 different countries. It was an amazing spectacle. This is the first of a couple of blog posts focussing on the event. . . . The Opening ceremony was delayed by a day due to the inclement weather, but it was worth waiting for! I’ve never seen this done with 1,000 litre water containers either . . .
Stacked high to spell out ‘KIJ’ and with LED lighting inserted to good effect! The cast put on a good show to kick off the proceedings.
This was then followed by local DJ Steve Sullivan who put on some thumping club tunes for the young ravers.
The week has been full of a huge range of onsite and off site activities, the Scouts and Guides have been fully occupied from day break until nightfall.
